SKY DIVING AND PARACHUTING WEEKEND
17 April 2001
THE FIRST SKY DIVING WEEKEND HELD 13 TO THE 16 APRIL 2001 AT PYRAMID AIRFIELD WAS A GREAT SUCCESS, A BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED.
Friday we saw seven new students do the course. That afternoon four brave students did there first jump out of a C2O6 with Louw at the controls and Blikkies shouting the odds in the back.
All four students landed safely with one ending up in a Lantana bush with a few scratches and a damaged ego, other wise big smiles all round.
Blikkies did the first Microlight jump with a very nice new chute.
The rest of the students did there first jump the next day and some of them went on to do three jumps.
The old Sky gods really enjoyed jumping out of the microlights with Brian and Alec at the controls.
Brian had a unstable opening an received a nasty wake up slap in the face to pay for his mistake.
The following statement was made by one of the new "A" licence sky divers.
"THIS DZ IS SO BIG, IF YOU CAN'T LAND ON IT YOU SHOUDN'T BE JUMPING!"   Low and behold the statement maker missed the DZ twice out of four jumps!!! Be careful what you say at a new DZ.
In the lapa around the camp fire at night a lot of penalties where drunk by the offenders of the day a lot of fun was had by all.
A big thank you once again to all those who helped make this weekend a success!
