This is a brief history of flying career of Brian Young from 1980 to date.

Brian obtained his Private Pilots Licence with Rand Flight Centre in December 1981.
He flew only fixed wing aircraft until 1985.
Brian then qualified for his Microlight Pilot's Licence in November 1993.

He established Klip River Aero Club in 1994 and built up the air field from one hangar and two Microlights to seven hangars, club house with full facilities and fifty microlights today.

On behalf of the owners established Pyramid Flight School at Klip River Airfield 1995.
He qualified as an Instructor in March 1996
On behalf of the owners established Pyramid Flight School Barberton in March 2000 and closed Pyramid Flight School Klip River in March 2001.

Pyramid Flight School Barberton, is one of the most modern and professionally operated Microlight Schools in South Africa!

He qualified as a "B" grade instructor in June 1997 and as an "A" grade instructor in May 1998
In the 1998 South African National Championships he was placed second in his class and third overall.
He was selected for the Springbok (National) team to compete in the 7th world Microlight Championships.
He is approved by the Aeroclub of SA, MISASA and Commissioner for Civil Aviation. (He may inspect and certify microlights for airworthiness)
He served on the MISASA Committee as head of licensing and training for 1997 and 1998.

He was Chief Flying Instructor for S.A. in 1998.
He is currently the MISASA National Chairman.
He was awarded a certificate of recognition from MISASA in 1999 and 2000.
He has completed over 5500 flying hours(PPL, MPL, GPL and Instruction) of which 3500 are Instruction hours.

He has trained approximately 200 new pilots, 35 Instructors and done 40 instructor upgrades.

He has completed many long distance solo unsupported flights the longest being over 1000 kilometres.

He won the Jock of the Bushveld Air Race twice (98 and 99) and is currently rated on 25 different aircraft.

Brian is a South African citizen 53 years old.

He resides at Aylestone Guest Farm, Mpumalanga, South Africa.

His hobbies and interests are:

Skydiving, Scuba Diving, Flying, Photography, Clay pigeon shooting, Pistol shooting, Hiking in the bush, Wildlife, Running, Cycling and Gym.
